Political circles were busy last night responding to rumours of reshuffle within the coalition Government today.
One speculation was that coalition member SLFP will reshuffle its pack today and the other ally UNP will do it next week. Speculation was rife ahead of Cabinet meeting today.
However sources close to President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe denied any changes ahead of Indian Premier Narendra Modi’s visit to Sri Lanka to boost first ever International Vesak celebrations on Thursday. Furthermore PM Wickremesinghe is also scheduled to visit China next week.
Some claimed rumour mill was busy yesterday because President Sirisena told editors last month that not only State heads will roll but perhaps Ministers too.
Other analysts maintained that reshuffle if any would be after August when the UNP and SLFP will renew their two-year MoU for a further three years.
