Recycle Energy together with its German counterpart Solventure has the perfect solution for Sri Lanka’s garbage problem with one garbage technology.
“What’s more, it’s one that does not involve the use of three garbage/sorting bags, but just one,” said a spokesperson from Recycle Energy.
“This will allay the fears of all householders who have nightmares of sorting out their garbage into several bags,” said Recycle Energy Coordinator Kithminie Wanigasekera.
The advantages of implementing the one garbage bag technology, otherwise known as the Combi Tech process, are manifold; the primary one being that there is no necessity of sorting out or segregating of the solid waste, resulting in the use of just one garbage disposal bag.
It is environmentally friendly and uses non-incineration technology. The process of disposal of solid waste generates not only organic fertiliser but also alternative sources of energy for electricity as well as waste heat for cooling.
“The waste heat thus generated by the Combi Tech process is used for cooling purposes, thus helping to reduce post-harvest losses that amount to an exorbitant 40% or more of the harvested seasonal fruit and vegetable produced in the country.”
In addition Solventure and its local partners will supply compost/organic fertiliser to Lakpohora Fertilizer Company free of charge in its first year of manufacture and subsequently at Rs. 7 per kilo.
Lakpohora will also receive 5% of the profits from Solventure, while the country will receive an investment of $ 80 million, high quality fertiliser under the supervision of German laboratories and state-of-the-art technology as well.
At a time when both garbage disposal as well as power supply present disproportionate problems, Combi Tech methodology which is the result of Sri Lanka’s Recycle Energy and Germany’s Solventure present the ideal solution.
