DOHA: The volume of trade between Qatar and Sri Lanka reached QR 417.4m ($ 1,1462 m) in 2014, and both the countries are exploring areas to further expanding and deepening their bilateral relations.
The Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al Thani met here today with Minister of Highways and Investment Promotion Kabir Hashim and his accompanying delegation, according to QNA.
They reviewed bilateral ties between the two countries in economic, trade and investment fields and ways to support and strengthen them, in addition to aspects of cooperation between the two countries.
Qatar and Sri Lanka had signed a number of trade and economic agreements such as the convention on economic, trade and technical cooperation in 2012 in Colombo, in addition to the convention on the protection and promotion of mutual investment, inked in Doha in 2012. Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry has also signed a memorandum of understanding with its Sri Lankan counterpart. (The Peninsula)
