The Sri Lanka Investor Forum organised by NWS Holdings Ltd. in Japan will be held this afternoon in Tokyo.
Nearly 300 Japanese investors are scheduled to attend the Forum which is scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Hotel New Otani, Tokyo.
Japan’s Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida will deliver the keynote address whilst Tourism Minister John Amaratunga will address the forum as well.
This is the sixth road show and investor forum organised by NWS Holdings, but this year the response has been overwhelming thanks to support from the Japanese officials as well as the Sri Lanka Embassy in Japan.
NWS Holdings Group Managing Director Viraj Malawana said record participation this year reflected the growing appetite for Sri Lanka among Japanese investors. NWS Holdings and its partner Bansei Securities in Tokyo have so far attracted nearly Rs. 60 billion Japanese investments into Sri Lanka Government Treasury Bonds and capital markets.
This year NWS has expanded the scope and sectors to be promoted at the forum. These include tourism, leisure and lifestyles, real estate, property development and construction, manufacturing and ICT apart from financial services and capital markets.
The Investor Forum also coincides with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s current official visit to Japan.
Other speakers at today’s forum include former Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Nobuhito Hobo, Consul General for Sri Lanka in Osaka Udaya Aluthgamage, existing investors in Sri Lanka, NWS Holdings Chairman Takashi Igarashi and Bansei Holdings Co. Ltd. Japan President Toyohiko Murakami. Several Sri Lankan companies, including Just In Time Holdings, Jetwing, Micro Holdings, Pan Asia Bank, Altair and Spa Ceylon, will make presentations as well.
The Forum is held in partnership with SriLankan Airlines and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
