Reuters: Sri Lanka’s tea production dropped 2.8% to 29.76 million kilos in November from a year earlier, data from the State-run Tea Board showed on Thursday, with industry players blaming adverse weather for the loss. Output of Sri Lanka’s top agricultural export commodity has risen 2.8% to 309 million kilos in the first 11 months of this year compared with the same period last year. Forecast for 2013 tea crop is 335 million kilos, up from 327.5 million kilos in 2012. The country’s tea crop hit a record high of 331.43 million kilos in 2010. Tea is one of the main foreign currency earners for the country’s $ 59 billion economy.
