Navin’s committee to probe irregularities in tourism, sports starts work

Minister of Tourism and Sports Navin Dissanayake has appointed a three-member committee to pursue any irregularities which occurred in the Ministry of Tourism and Sports during the past five years.
The committee, headed by former Secretary of Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs Dharmasena Dissanayake and comprising former Deputy Secretary of Treasury Operations Department Namasivayam Pathmanathan and business leader Ruzly Hussain, has already started work.
Ministry Secretary M.I.M. Rafeek has requested any member of the public or officials to make written representations about any irregularities in 11 institutions coming under the Tourism and Sports Ministry on or before 23 February.
Submissions should be sent to the Secretary of the fact finding committee Saman Bandara, who is the Additional Secretary of the Ministry.
Apart from the Ministry itself, the institutions are the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, Department of Sports Development, sports federations and boards registered in the Ministry, Sugathadasa National Sports Complex Authority, Department of National Zoological Gardens, Department of Wildlife Conservation and Department of National Botanical Gardens.
