A veteran Banker W.A.Nalani assumes duties today as the new General Manager of Bank of Ceylon. Having joined in April 1975, Nalani takes over as the 17th General Manager of the Bank of Ceylon and the 3rd lady General Manager of the Bank.

Nalani having a distinguished career in banking and in the Bank of Ceylon spanning over 36 years, served as the Senior Deputy General Manager (Corporate and Offshore Banking) since December 2008. Prior to that she has held many senior level positions in the bank including the Metropolitan Branch; the largest middle-market business unit, and the Sabaragamuwa Province branch network covering the important economic districts of Kegalle and Ratnapura. She is a specialist in credit and recovery management and has contributed significantly to staff training work.
A graduate from the University of Colombo, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics (Hons) and Bachelor of Philosophy in Economics, Nalani completed her primary and secondary education at Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda and Vishaka Vidyalaya, Bambalapitiya.
She serves as a Non Executive Nominee Director on the Boards of Regional Development Bank and Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka PLC. She is also an Alternate Director on the Board of Credit Information Bureau and the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka.
At present Nalani is the President of the Association of Professional Bankers of Sri Lanka and a Committee Member of the Alumni Association of University of Colombo.
In 2009 Nalani was awarded the “Zonta Award for excellence” in the Banking Category.
