Even when one of Sri Lanka’s single largest investments after the war seems to be a hit-and-run, more big names are expressing delight in moving into the country.
Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa stated that Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, Raffles Hotel Singapore and Doubletree by Hilton have showed interest in setting up their foothold in Sri Lanka.
Sheraton Hotels and Resorts is part of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, one of the world’s largest hotel companies and its second oldest brand.
Raffles in Singapore is one of its key hotels, while Doubletree by Hilton is a worldwide brand of upscale, full-service hotels and resorts trademarked by Hilton Worldwide.
“The groups are now discussing possibilities with the local authority. Raffles has shown interest in working on a joint partnership with a local company,” he said.
