Launching SIM-based NFC technology recently, Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel earned itself yet another first in the industry. Opting to pay by tapping one’s phone which has been installed with a NFC-enabled SIM card is gaining popularity across the world. This option is one that is fast and secure, where payments done in a retail environment are 100% contactless. NFC or Near Field Technology is now available for a multitude of applications via Mobitel’s suite of Business Solutions. The NFC fuel card management system is one of them. This system is especially useful for companies to efficiently administrate fuel quota assigned per employee, their eligibility, user data, reports and statistics while contributing to prevent malpractices which generally occur with the use of traditional fuel chit-based systems. One of the key advantages of SIM-based NFC is the inherent ability to connect and synchronise consumer data to the NFC platform via a TSM (Trusted Service Manager). This empowers consumers to check his/her value balances and other vital information relating to a particular NFC service through the mobile phone itself while ensuring highest security without having to reach a NFC Terminal device. Mobitel’s loyalty program, Club Magnate, is also NFC-enabled. The loyalty program offers an array of benefits and discounts to Mobitel’s post-paid and pre-paid customers through an extremely comprehensive partner merchant network. Other SIM-based NFC services include an attendance management system, an identification and access control system, visitor management system and parking management, all made easy and secure by a mere tap of the mobile phone.
