Mahinda to make announcement in Medamulana

​Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is set to make a special statement from his home in Medamulana on Wednesday (1 July), after the SLFP makes a final decision this week on whether the party will offer him the ticket. 

Spokesman for the former President, Rohan Welivita told the Daily FT that media personnel would be transported to Medamulana in the Hambantota District from the Abhayarama Temple in Narahenpita to hear the special statement. The Abayaramaya temple has been Rajapaksa’s political headquarters in recent weeks.
