JB Securities, Dialog win first-ever CFA Sri Lanka Awards

JB Securities and Dialog Axiata on Wednesday night clinched the first-ever CFA Sri Lanka Awards dedicated to professional excellence in capital markets. JB Securities took home the award for the best equity research on its analysis on Colombo Dockyard whilst Dialog Axiata won the award for best investor relations. The first runner-up in the best equity research category was won by IIFL Ceylon Ltd. for its report on Distilleries Company and Capital Alliance bagged the third place for its research on Dialog Axiata. In the investor relations category, HNB won second place and John Keells Holdings secured third place. The CFA initiative, widely welcomed by capital markets, aimed at recognising firms and practitioners that have contributed towards the achievement of professional standards of practice in capital markets. The awards ceremony was preceded by a prognosis of the economy and financial markets by a panel of experts and a Sri Lanka forecast quiz. SEC Chairman Dr. Nalaka Godahewa was the Chief Guest whilst CSE Chairman Krishan Balendra and CFA Sri Lanka President Sheyantha Abeykoon were among officials present at the event, which was well attended by the stock broking, fund management and investment advisory community. CFA Sri Lanka is the local chapter of the CFA Institute based in Charlottesville, USA. The institute is a global association of more than 116,000 members in 137 countries which champions the cause of professional excellence and ethical behaviour in financial markets. It administers the award of the CFA Charter, widely recognised as the gold standard in the investment profession worldwide.
