Jayatissa new Chairman of Insurance Corp.

Top economist and public servant R.A. Jayatissa has recently assumed duties as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation.

Previously the SLIC Chairmanship was held by President’s Chief of Staff Gamini Senerath.

Jayatissa, an economist, was the Deputy Secretary to the Treasury and Senior Economic Policy Advisor to the Ministry of Finance and Planning. He is now a Senior Consultant Economist at the Academy of Financial Studies of the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

He has served as Director of Economic Research and Assistant Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Senior Economist and later as an Alternate Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund.

Jayatissa has also served on the Board of People’s Bank. He has extensive knowledge and experience in economic and financial policy issues and management.

Jayatissa has also served as member of the Boards of the National Development Bank, SME Bank, People’s Bank, and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. He holds a B.A. (Hons.) Degree in Economics (University of Sri Lanka), MA in Development Economics (Williams College) and MA in Political Economy (Boston University, USA).
