An Advanced Level student from Jaffna, A. Sivajini of Kanagaratnam Madhya Maha Vidyalaya, Paruthithurai, has won the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) organised all-island Tamil quiz on capital markets conducted via Vasantham TV of ITN.

The semi finals and finals of the Quiz were conducted on 29 and 30 November 2011 and Sivajini was placed first. K. Radurshini of Badulla Tamil Girls Maha Vidyalaya was placed second and S. Jayamathy of Muslim Central College Kalutara and K. Kiruthika of Cambridge College, Kotagala, tied for the third place.
The semi finals and finals of the Quiz will be telecast on Vasantham TV on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon commencing 7 January 2012.
The SEC said it gives high priority to the implementation of investor education initiatives. These initiatives are designed to reach a wide range of investors and are aimed at building a base of knowledgeable investors.
It said the Tamil TV series ‘Prathilabham – Moolathana Santhayum Muthaleeduhalum’ was commissioned to educate Tamil speaking investors on the capital market through Vasantham TV of the Independent Television Network.
This 18 week television series is telecast from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays and is divided into two sections. The first 11 programmes will comprise of one hour live discussions on the capital market and the next seven programmes will comprise of a 30 minute live discussion and a 30 minute recorded Quiz Programme for Advanced Level Tamil medium commerce students.
The preliminary selection examination for the Quiz Programme was conducted in 12 examination centres around the country.
