International Feder-ation of Accountants (IFAC) President Olivia Kirtley, and CFO Russel Guthrie, who are on an official visit to Sri Lanka, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday at Temple Trees.
During the meeting, Kirtley explained the role of the IFAC in developing the profession and helping maintain the standards of local bodies. Matters in connection to the progression of the accounting profession in a Sri Lankan context were also discussed at length.
CA Sri Lanka President Arjuna Herath, Vice President Lasantha Wickremasinghe, CEO Aruna Alwis, Vice President of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) Naeem Akhtar Sheikh, President of CMA Sri Lanka Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala, Chairman of CIMA Sri Lanka Vipula Gunatilleka and CIMA Regional Director Bradly Emerson were also present at the meeting.
