Higher Education Ministry Secy. Dr. Nawaratne joins Hayleys MGT Knitting Board

Higher Education Ministry Secretary Dr. Sunil Jayantha Nawaratne has joined the Board of Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills Plc as a Non Executive Director. Dr. Nawaratne counts over 18 years of post-qualified experience focused mainly on management and development. He served as the Director, Human Capital, Youth Development and Rural Networks of Cargills (Ceylon) Plc from 2007-2010 till he assumed duties as the Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education.

Among the many roles handled by Dr. Nawaratne, he has served as Director General/Chairman of the National Youth Services Council, Sri Lanka (NYSC), Secretary, Ministry of Samurdhi, Director General, Samurdhi Authority, Chairman, Centre for Strategic Management and also as an Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. He holds a B.Sc (Business Administration) degree from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura, an MA (Economics) from the Kagawa University, Japan, and a PhD in Management from the Keio University, Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Nawaratne is a visiting Faculty Member on strategic management, poverty reduction for the MBA program, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo. Hayleys MGT also announced that J.A.S. Piyawardena, an Independent Non Executive Director of the company, resigned from the Board with effect from 25 April. Following the latest changes, the Board of Directors of Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills Plc comprises A.M. Pandithage (Chairman), E.R.P. Goonetilleke (Managing Director), R. Seevaratnam, S.C. Ganegoda, K.D.D. Perera, H. Somashantha, R.N. Somaratne, R.P. Pathirana, D.S.N. Weerasooriya and S.J. Nawaratne.
