- Titled World Export Centre, Twin Towers to have 55 floors each
- Commercial office space to span 3.8 m square feet
- Says project dependent on receiving infrastructure development incentives offered by Govt. to similar projects
The Hayleys group, Sri Lanka’s most diversified conglomerate and pioneer in value added exports, yesterday announced its latest venture, the ‘World Export Centre’, a state of the art “A” Grade office Twin Towers, with 55 floors each, having 3.8 million square feet of commercial office space.
The Towers at Deans Road, Colombo 10 will provide working space for 20,000 employees, with ample parking for over 2,000 vehicles, three floors of retail and office amenities.
“This transformative project, the viability of which would depend on infrastructure development incentives offered by the Government of Sri Lanka, similar to what has been granted in the recent past for similar developments,” Hayleys said.
It will enable Sri Lankan and global export oriented firms to house and exhibit their products and services in a single holistic location, the company added. Hayleys generates 2.36% of Sri Lanka’s export earnings.
The proposed venture will be carried out via a newly incorporated company with 100% of initial equity investment made by Hayleys Plc.
Plans make the new complex three times the size of the current World Trade Centre of Overseas Realty. WTC has over 750,000 square feet of prime office and commercial space; the proposed Hayleys complex would have 2.1 million square feet.
