Harin and team visit Microsoft HQ in Seattle

Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure Minister Harin Fernando and senior officials have undertaken an official visit to Microsoft’s global headquarters in Redmond, Seattle, US.  The Lankan team which included ICT Agency CEO Muhunthan Canagey during their tour discussed the Governments initiative on Innovation Centres and the Digital Education programs and visited the Microsoft Cybercrime Centre. They also visited the Microsoft sponsored St. Thomas School in Bellevue, Redmond where they saw the strides and advances made using digital technology to enhance education. The entire school is run digitally and all students are working online. The team met with “NAO” the humanoid robot who helps the children with their curriculum.  Sources said the visit facilitated by Microsoft Sri Lanka will help Sri Lanka’s efforts to develop digital infrastructure for the benefit of youth of the country.
