Galle Magistrate impounds Gota’s passport

The Galle Magistrate’s Court yesterday issued an order to the Department of Immigration and Emigration to temporarily impound the passports of former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and former Navy Commander Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake. Apart from impounding the passports of Rajapaksa and Dissanayake, two other passports were also impounded. They are passports of the Director of the Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Ltd., Major General (Retd) K.B. Egodawela and the Managing Director of Avant Garde Security Services Ltd., Manjula Yapa. Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has requested these travel restrictions to facilitate the investigations on the Avant-Garde floating armoury.
