Four Chinese biz delegations in Colombo this week to explore opportunities

Four separate Chinese delegations, representing different Chinese provinces, will arrive in Sri Lanka during this week to strengthen bilateral trade and commercial ties between the two countries. Accordingly, the delegations, which will be facilitated by the Sri Lanka-China Business Council, are expected to arrive in the country on 26, 27, 30 March and 1 April. The visiting delegations are from Chinese provinces such as Shenyang, Shandong, Liaoning and Yunnan and their trip is also expected to help cultivate relationships between the individual provinces and Sri Lankan business entities. The delegations are expected to hold meetings with the members of the Sri Lanka-China Business Council, Sri Lankan businessmen, officials of the Export Development Board and the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka. The Chinese business delegations have expressed their interest in meeting local counterparts engaged in the travel, automobile, aluminium and furniture industries in addition to the heavy industries, import and export sectors, among many other areas of interests. A MoU will also be signed between Liaoning Province and Sri Lanka enabling stronger economic cooperation between the two. The Hong Kong Culture and Economy Promotion Association for International Cities visited Sri Lanka earlier in the week and held meetings with local counterparts.
