FinanceMinister Ravi Karunanayake yesterday said that the previous regime had obtained a sum of Rs. 28 billion from the National Savings Bank (NSB) in order to develop the country’s road network.
The Minister claimed the Rs. 28 billion which was obtained by the NSB had been misused by the previous administration and the relevant road development programs had not been carried out.
“The former regime had obtained a sum of Rs. 594 billion for road development projects, but these funds were not even approved by the Cabinet,” he said.
