Former BOI Chief invests in CTC

Former BOI Chief J.D. Bandaranayke is investing further in his long-standing Ceylon Tobacco Company.

As per filings to the CSE, Bandaranayake, who is also Non-Executive Chairman of CTC, had bought 35,000 shares of CTC for around Rs. 14 million with a big block of 34,400 at Rs. 395 each which was the closing price, down by Rs. 1.80.

Yesterday’s purchase was on top of 4,100 shares of CTC bought on 5 July mostly at Rs. 370 per share.

With latest investments, Bandaranayake and connected parties own around 0.2 million shares in CTC, the sixth most valuable stock on the Colombo bourse. He is also among top 20 shareholders of CTC.
