Sri Lanka’s inaugural nanotechnology conference hosted by the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (SLINTEC) themed ‘Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Sri Lanka: From Science to Commercialisation,’ will be held this week, on 24 and 25 August at the Mount Lavinia Hotel.

SLINTEC is a public-private partnership between the Government and five leading private sector companies and specialises in nanotechnology research and development to make products more competitive and add value to Sri Lanka’s mineral resources.

SLINTEC is also developing a nanotechnology park for research, development and commercialisation of innovations.

Some of the sectors that are being focussed include agriculture, apparel and textile, activated carbon, consumer products and rubber. Nanotechnology is expected empower several products and processes within these sectors.

Organised by the National Nanotechnology Committee, the national nanoscience and nanotechnology conference is scheduled to be held over two days and will feature a special nano forum for CEOs and decision makers on 24 August. For details visit www.slintec.lk
