President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday (6) sought the assistance of Excise officers to get rid of the drug menace in the city of Colombo as it was causing immense inconvenience to the people in Colombo.
The President was speaking on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Excise Officers’ Association held yesterday at Temple Trees where a commemoration stamp was issued to mark the event.
A special memento was presented to the President to mark the 60th anniversary of the Excise officers by its President W. D. L. Wijesekera.
Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Githanjana Gunawardena, Excise Commissioner General Wasantha Hapuarachchi, Deputy Commissioner, Pathma Rajapaksa, Trade Union representative W. G. Piyadasa and a large number of Excise Department officers participated at the occasion.
