Minister of Investment Promotion Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and Deputy Minister Faiszer Mustapha will launch the European Union-Sri Lanka (EU-SL) Investor Dialogue with the European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (ECCSL) today, 9 July, at the Hilton Colombo Residence.
The European investors in Sri Lanka have been invited to be an integral part of this initiative on a long-term basis.
The EU-SL Business Council in Brussels, Belgium launched the EU-SL Business Dialogue in collaboration with the ECCSL in November 2012, which opened avenues for high level discussions taking place with the European Union (EU) Member States representations, European investors and Sri Lankan businesses to explore joint venture partnerships.
The reinstatement of the Ministry of Investment and Promotion has been a positive message to the prospective European investors.
Ministers Abeywardena, Mustapha and the Board of Investment have extended their fullest support to ECCSL’s initiatives in promoting investment to Sri Lanka. In this context many discussions have been held on the way forward to enhance Foreign Direct Investment in Sri Lanka from a European perspective and to work in close collaboration.
The European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka is optimistic that its initiatives would facilitate European investors in numerous ways to explore the possibilities to invest in Sri Lanka and it hopes to expand its services towards contributing to Sri Lanka’s investment and business environment.
The event partner for the launch of the EU-SL Investor Dialogue is Qatar Airways. DFCC Vardhana Bank, Omega Line, Wickremarachchi Opticians and Prestige Automobiles are joining hands to make this event a success.
