The Government is to set up a secretariat for entrepreneurship and innovation as a means to boost export competitiveness.
The proposal, jointly made by Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama, Science, Technology and Research Minister Susil Premajayantha and Industry and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen, to appoint three action groups to drive export development and improve competitiveness, was approved by the Cabinet this week.
The entrepreneurship and innovation secretariat is to be established under the Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade, Cabinet Co-spokesperson Gayantha Karunathilaka told journalists at a briefing on Cabinet decisions held yesterday.
