The EDB yesterday launched a new web portal for the board, which was designed and developed in association with CBI Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands. The launch took place at the opening ceremony on day three of Expo 2012.
The website, designed to give the necessary market intelligence for both exporters and buyers, provides local exporter information and other details needed to make informed decisions.
CBI, known as a centre for the promotion of imports from developing countries, has ensured that the new website supports all factors and caters to an international platform based on market intelligence.
CBI Deputy Head Dick de Man stated that export was a complex business that needed support from organisations such as the EDB.
“The country needs to be prepared for more and better export numbers. The export market offers opportunities which would support sustainable development in the country,” de Man said. “To tap that potential, you need to make well informed selections and that is what is offered in the new website.”
Market intelligence must be in the heart of the business, he said. “What is good about the website is that it gives intelligence while also offering trading advisory services to the export community.”
The website will be accessible to the public from next week.
