Verité Research yesterday said that there was an important facilitation role that Sri Lankan embassies in other countries could play in accessing and supplying information to Sri Lankan exporters.
Verité Research Executive Director Dr.Nishan de Mel said appointing an economist as the Deputy Foreign Minister was timely.
“We think that there is an important role for an economist to play in the foreign Ministry and expanding the information to exporters is perhaps a crucial easy policy that can be taken forward,” he added.
He further stated that in other countries the commercial sectors played a very important role in supplying information and knowledge back to their exporters. Therefore Sri Lankan commercial sections could be developed quite significantly to play the same role as in the past they had not seen this as a part of their mandate. (CDS)
