Directors’ responsibilities and liabilities under the Companies Act will come under spotlight at a unique forum over breakfast on Friday with several experts sharing key insights.
The forum titled “Accountability and Protection” organized by ACCA Sri Lanka in association with the Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries of Sri Lanka (ICCS), Janshakthi Insurance Plc and the Daily FT will be held on Friday 17 February from 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. at Oak Room, Cinnamon Grand.
Speakers will be Dr. Harsha Cabral, Mohan Peiris, Ashroff Omar, Franklyn Amerasinghe, Sanjiva Senanayake, Arittha Wikramanayake and Prakash Schaffer. The forum will be moderated by Daily FT Editor.
The objective of the forum is to give Board directors an insight in to their responsibilities and ensuing legal liabilities if responsibilities are not met.
Dr. Cabral will touch on the civil and criminal liabilities attached to the Directors role taking into account the provisions of the Companies Act, Securities regime and other regulatory mechanisms whilst Mohan Peiris along with Arittha Wikramanayake will focus on regulators and legal perspective. Ashroff Omar will share some insights from a majority shareholder and executive director perspective and Sanjiva Senanayake will deal with independent directors’ perspective whilst Franklyn Amerasinge will focus on nominations committee perspective. Prakash Schaffer will provide the forum an insurer’s perspective.
