Dileepa assumes office as SLT Group CEO today

Dileepa Wijesundera will assume duties as the new Group CEO of Sri Lanka Telecom today. He replaces Lalith De Silva who has resigned effective 13 March. De Silva joined SLT as Group CEO in 2013, making him the first local to hold that position following the company’s privatisation in 1996. Dileepa has a proven track record of turning corporate ventures into profitable and well established organisations, stemming from his experience across the continents. He is ideally poised to lead the national ICT solutions provider and the leading broadband and backbone infrastructure services provider in the country to its next phase of (digital) development. Dileepa has held key positions in the country’s public sector such as Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), Chairman of Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation (SLLRDC) and Deputy Director General of Board of Investment (BOI). He also held a Board position at BOI. Being an engineer by profession with B.Sc and M.Sc in Engineering, Dileepa brings with him decades of extensive international private sector experience in wide range of business industries which includes Balfour Beatty, MW Kellogg (now Haliburton), Qatar Airways, Emirates Airlines, etc.
