Leading telecoms firm Dialog Axiata has increased its consolidated after tax profit in 2016 by 80% to Rs. 9 billion aided by a strong performance in its mobile business.
At the company level the bottom line was Rs. 10.3 billion, up from Rs. 5.7 billion.
Group pre-tax profit grew to Rs. 10.5 billion from Rs. 6.7 billion in 2015 and at the company level it grew from Rs. 7 billion to Rs. 12 billion. Group revenue amounted to Rs. 86.7 billion, up from Rs. 74 billion and at the company level it grew from Rs. 63 billion in 2015 to Rs. 73 billion last year.
In the three months ended 31 December 2016, Group after tax profit doubled to Rs. 1.24 billion while revenue rose from Rs. 20 billion to Rs. 22.7 billion.
As per provisional results, Mobile Operation saw revenue rise to Rs. 72.4 billion from Rs. 62 billion whilst operating profit amounted to Rs. 13.4 billion, up from Rs. 9.7 billion.
The fixed telephone and broadband operation turned profit of Rs. 52 million from a loss of Rs. 43.5 million. The television operation reduced its losses to Rs. 0.5 million from a loss of Rs. 144.8 million.
Group assets topped the Rs. 130 billion mark to end 2016 at Rs. 132.3 billion from Rs. 116.8 billion.
