For the second consecutive year, the Daily FT, the country’s only daily business paper, in partnership with the MBA Alumni Association of the University of Colombo, will hold the unique private-public sector pre-2013 Budget forum tomorrow in Colombo.
The event is aimed at shaping the thinking and policies ahead of the presentation of the Government’s 2013 Budget on 8 November. The closed door forum will be chaired by Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera.
The breakfast forum will bring together select industry leaders and senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and Planning for a frank discussion on some of the pressing issues facing multiple business and economic activities in the country.
The strategic partner of the forum is Standard Chartered Bank, also for the second consecutive year. Last year’s event, the first-of-its-kind in the country, was a success, bringing out key observations from the private sector.
This year too over a dozen of private sector leaders representing key activities such as agriculture, apparel, tourism, financial services, SMEs, plantations, logistics, IT and telecom, construction, and engineering, are expected to individually list three most crucial or pressing issues facing the relevant sectors, which if addressed by the Government could unleash rapid development.
Select officials from the Ministry of Finance engaged in the preparation of the Budget will be present as well.
