The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) is stepping up its drive to educate existing and new investors via a countrywide awareness program.
Titled ‘Insight for Investing,’ the initiative is set to attract a wide and broad group of potential and existing investors, giving them a comprehensive understanding about investing in the Stock market. This will enhance the knowledge of the general public in relation to investing and prove that anyone can successfully invest in the share market.
Today an Investor Day will be held in Kekirawa Cultural Centre from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and another at Jaffna Public Library Auditorium, on 23 March from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Another initiative of the CSE is the Investor Educational Workshop Stage 2 which is designed to give further insight into Financial Statements Analysis to participants. This workshop will be held on 23 March in Kandy CSE Brand from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in Sinhala and in Colombo on 27 March at Sasakawa Hall, Colombo 3. These are hot on the heels of workshops held in Matara last week and in Negombo on Monday.
Investor Day is an open day concept, where investors from the selected region can come and understand what the role of the CSE is, and also learn about the investment opportunities available with the CSE.
The Investor Days will see the participation of key stakeholders in the market including the CSE, stock broker firms and unit trust companies, which will provide the public with a comprehensive understanding with regard to their specific roles and the interlinked mechanisms of the market.
The entrance to the Investor Days will be free of charge and will provide participants with an ideal one-on-one opportunity to raise questions pertaining to the market and plan their investments with broker firms and unit trust companies who will be present at the event.
These one day events will contain presentations, quiz competitions, lucky draws for all participants, and in addition will provide an opportunity for participants to sign up for the various education workshops scheduled to be held in that particular region.
The Investor Education Workshops are conducted at a nominal fee of Rs. 500 per participant. The Colombo program fee is Rs. 1,000 per participant. More information with regard to the educational workshops could be obtained from www.cse.lk.
