The Annual General Meeting of the Colombo Stock Brokers Association (CSBA) will be held today.
The Daily FT learns a change at the top was likely. Current Chairman is Sriyan Gurusinghe who has been in the post for several years. Speculation was rife that Asha Phillip Securities CEO Dimuthu Abeysekara would be proposed.
Apart from electing the new office bearers, Daily FT learns some members are likely to take up the need for new measures to proactively develop the stock market under any other business.
Some have been mooting the appointment of an Advisory Committee comprising past Chairmen to steer this initiative.
Of the 28 brokers, four have been non-members for some time – CT Smith, JB Securities, Somerville Stockbrokers and IIFL Ceylon – whilst recently Capital Alliance too moved out.
