The Colombo Magistrate yesterday ordered 79 banks and financial institutions to furnish details to the CID about the financial assets of three Presidential Security Division officers attached to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s security detail.
The CID informed Court yesterday that it requires information about assets deposited in local banks and financial institutions, under the names of the three officers or their relatives.
Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya in his order issued yesterday, instructed 32 banks and 47 financial institutions to submit details about the suspects’ accounts to the CID.
The CID is investigating the three PSD officials based on a complaint made by the Secretariat for the Committee against Corruption.
The three PSD officials under investigation are Wanniarachchi Neville, DamithGomis and Captain Tissa Wimalasena who has also been linked to the Wasim Thajudeen murder case.(DB)
