President Maithripala Sirisena this week instructed relevant officials to take necessary steps to use sea sand in constructing government buildings in the future, after conducting further analysis regarding the technology of using sea sand in building construction works.
Attention has been drawn to this initiative as one of the steps the Government has taken to protect natural resources, a statement from the Prime Minister’s office said.
The President has given this directive during a discussion held at the President’s Official Residence on Tuesday regarding the environmental issues prevailing in the Trincomalee District.
