The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) will be hosting the 32nd Commonwealth Association of Tax Administration (CATA) Conference in Colombo next week.
This is the largest gathering of tax administrators in the world.
The Sri Lankan Government is spending Rs.17 million to host the event, which is the first Commonwealth function to be held in Sri Lanka after the end of the war.
Thirty-two countries have already confirmed participation and China will be sending a delegation to monitor the proceedings even though it is not a Commonwealth country.
Over 125 delegates are expected in the country to attend the conference. Malaysia, UK and Singapore are among the countries that will be conducting session at the weeklong event.
