Colombo Bourse plays Citrus

The Colombo stock market was yesterday preoccupied with two debutants Citrus Waskaduwa and Citru Kalpitiya, subsidiaries of Citrus Leisure controlled by trio Dilith Jayaweera, Varuni Amunugama Fernando and Sarva Ameresekera owned Divasa Equity Ltd.

Citrus Waskaduwa accounted for biggest turnover of Rs. 95 million with 6.36 million shares traded whilst Kalpitiya chipped in with Rs. 32.3 million on account of 1.7 million shares traded. Both in combination contributed circa 33.5% to the day’s total turnover.

However the two counters closed for the day on a mixed note, as Waskaduwa closed with a gain of 12%, whilst the Kalpitiya closed with a loss of 2.9%, becoming a yet another stock to close below its IPO price on its initial trading day. The counters touched high of Rs. 17.0 (up 36%) and Rs. 24.0 (up 37.1%) respectively, before closing at Rs. 14 and Rs. 17 each.
