The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in a statement yesterday said it was pleased to note that the polling of the seventh presidential election was concluded in a relatively peaceful and a conducive manner. “We appeal to the general public to remain calm and maintain peace during the post-election period,” it said. “Moving forward, all should respect the verdict of the voter, irrespective of political differences and stand firm with the elected leader to forge ahead and transform Sri Lanka to a developed nation, meeting aspirations of all the people. We remain committed and ready to contribute to the progress and prosperity of the nation,” the Ceylon Chamber added.
