The ceremonial sittings of Sri Lanka’s new Chief Justice Mohan Peiris has been organised for Wednesday (23).
The Registrar of the Supreme Court has said the arrangements are now being made for the ceremonial sittings.
The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) has already said that the Association would not attend the ceremonial sittings since it has resolved not to welcome the new Chief Justice due to the unfair removal of former Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake.
There is no variation in the BASL resolution not to welcome government appointed new Chief Justice Mohan Peiris, BASL President Wijedasa Rajapakshe said.
Rajapakshe has said that the BASL would not participate in Wednesday’s ceremony.
