UNP yesterday lamented that the important Annual Report of the Central Bank has been relegated to backbenches of the Government in Parliament.
This comment from the main Opposition was following SLFP MP R.P. Suriyapperuma taking the responsibility of moving the adjournment motion on the Central Bank whereas the UNP was expecting the least Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama taking up the responsibility in the absence of Minister of Finance who is also the President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
“Why is the Government so scared over a debate on the 2012 Central Bank Annual Report if they believes what it portrays in it is the gospel truth. It is a disappointment that such a hallowed official document has been relegated to a backbencher to take up than a frontline Minster,” noted UNP MP Dr. Harsha de Silva yesterday.
