New immigration hall, electronic mall at arrival terminal and expansion of departure concourse
Cabinet yesterday gave the takeoff signal for the Rs. 374 million construction of a new immigration hall and electronic mall at the arrival terminal at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) along with the Rs. 261 million expansion of the departure concourse.
The Cabinet papers submitted by Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva detailed that the immigration hall and new mall construction had been awarded to Olympus Construction at a cost of Rs. 374 million.
An additional 10% of the contract value exclusive of VAT amounting to Rs. 37 million is to be allowed for physical contingencies while another Rs. 18.7 million is to be allowed for pricing contingencies.
Expansion of the public concourse has been given to R.N. Constructions at a cost of Rs. 261 million, the Cabinet paper added. (UJ)
