UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and President Maithripala Sirisena have agreed to meet in New York next month when the President attends the UN General Assembly.
Ban Ki-moon had telephoned the President yesterday and congratulated him on the peaceful conduct of the parliamentary elections, the President’s office said.
During the conversation, the UN Secretary General had expressed keen interest to meet the President on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly and will speak on the latest developments in Sri Lanka.
