Amunugama leaves for IMF meeting

Senior Minister of International Monetary Cooperation Dr. Sarath Amunugama will lead the Sri Lankan delegation for the IMF-World Bank Spring Meeting to be held in Washington this week.



Other members of the delegation include Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Director General of the External Resources Division of the Ministry of Finance and Planning Mapa Pathirana and several other senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and Central Bank.

This meeting will be attended by finance ministers of most countries holding IMF membership. The IMF Board approved the release of the eighth tranche of $427 million recently.

It is part of the standby arrangement of $2.6 billion which was negotiated by the Government of Sri Lanka and the IMF.
