Kabul: Afghanistan is seeking to strengthen trade relations with Sri Lanka via an air corridor, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said on Tuesday when he accepted the credentials of Sri Lanka’s new Ambassador to Kabul Air Marshal (retd.) Gagan Bulathsinhala.
At the occasion President Galani said his country wanted to tighten trade relations via an air-corridor with Sri Lanka like the one with India, Kabul Times reported citing a statement from the President’s Office.
The Afghanistan President, observing that Sri Lanka had good facilities to train nurses and enjoyed high experiences in the field of agriculture, has said that his country was interested to use Sri Lanka’s experiences, the statement quoted.
The new Sri Lankan Ambassador expressed pleasure over his new mission in Afghanistan and pledged to try his best to help relations between the two countries get further improved, the statement said.
Ambassador Gagan Bulathsinhala was the former Chief of Defence Staff and the former Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
