Sri Lanka has seen a continuous plummeting of workers' remittances with June marking the dip for the fourth consecutive month.
Workers' remittances dipped by 13.5% in June to $ 557.6 million whilst for the first half the figure was down by 7% to $ 3.35 billion. In May the dip was milder at 3.7% to $ 575.4 million.
"The continued decline in workers’ remittances can be primarily attributed to the adverse economic and geopolitical conditions prevailing in the Middle Eastern region," the Central Bank said.
