VoA to provide Govt. expenditure from Jan. to April 2020
VoA in lieu of Budget that will be presented after Presidential Election

The Vote on Account prepared by the Ministry of Finance incorporating the expenditure of the Government for the first four months of 2020 will be presented to Parliament on 23 October.

The Vote of Account will be presented by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera and is being brought instead of the Budget in view of the Presidential Election which will be held on 16 November.

Cabinet agreed to postpone the commencement of the preparation of the annual Budget for the year 2020 to enable it to be based on the new policies of the Government and after the composition of the new cabinet of ministers after the elections.
