The family-owned hotel chain, boasting numerous years of industry experience in the Sri Lankan community and run by the Founder and Chairman Chandra Wickramasinghe, on Friday announced the Thema Collection, converting the 11 properties and its mutual 11 authentic experiences with an updated identity reflecting the elevation of the properties and standards to new heights.
Although Thema will inherit the brand’s existing values of cultural reflection, corporate social responsibility and biodiversity, the brand refresh evolves its visual identity mainly with a new logo fusing the two Sinhala consonants ‘ත’ and ‘ම’, which are deeply rooted in its culture.
The green leaf represents nature in its most luscious form, and the two flowers inspired by the Dambulla mural painting from the first century BC represent the serene, aromatic essence of life. It embodies the Thema Collection’s leitmotif to embark guests on a memorable and immersive journey of experiences for those seeking authentic local experiences.
Reflecting the hotel group’s “Different Themes, Authentic Experiences” motto, Thema aims to strengthen its perception and the way it engages with guests with the updated vision, not limited to curated property experiences but also shine a strict focus towards sustainability and the elimination of all single-use plastics along with maximising the use of alternative energy for their operations.
Thema also strongly encourages local purchases and employment, as well as increased support for Reconstruire et Vivre; a post-tsunami initiative founded by Thema’s founders that operates three preschools and four computer and language learning centres where quality education is provided to communities surrounding the properties for free.
Founder Wickramasinghe adds: “As we continue to lead through and beyond the pandemic, we’re clear who we are, what we stand for and how we can help guests open up their world again when they’re ready to travel.”
