The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) has renewed the call for unity as the country marked the second anniversary of the devastating Easter Sunday terror attacks in three star-class city hotels and an equal number of churches that killed over 250 people, including around 50 tourists. “The strength of any nation comes from the togetherness of its people,” THASL President Sanath Ukwatte said in a statement. “THASL is proud of tourism’s ability to celebrate Sri Lanka’s diversity,” he added.

As the nation mourns the immeasurable loss of life and devastation on 21 April 2019, THASL said it prays for the families and friends lost and for those who struggle with their loss.

“As we remember that dreadful day, THASL remains committed in our belief that only unity and love between all Sri Lankans can help us heal as a nation,” Ukwatte said in the statement.
