The Colombo stock market regained yesterday with the return of buying sentiments.
LOLC Securities said during the day, ASPI was up by 5 points and S&P SL20 was up by 10 points. Large cap counters such as Commercial Leasing and Finance (CLC), Commercial Bank (COMB), and Melstacorp (MELS) lifted the main index up by 7.57 points.
The S&P SL20 closed in green. During the day gainers surpassed losers 80 to 50.
Turnover was Rs. 581 million. JKH topped the turnover list while there were three crossings that represented 31% today’s turnover.
NDB Securities said high net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in John Keells Holdings and Citizens Development Business Finance. Mixed interest was observed in Renuka Agri Foods and Sampath Bank whilst retail interest was noted in Renuka Capital and Sierra Cables. Foreigners remained active closing as net sellers mainly due to foreign selling in John Keells Holdings. Total foreign sales accounted for 42.9% of the turnover. Foreign net outflow was Rs. 239 million.
During the week, the ASPI gained 0.47% while the S&P SL20 lost 0.10%. Average daily turnover for the week was recorded at Rs. 527 million.
