Sri Lanka Tourism came under the global spotlight at Expo 2020 Dubai once again making an emphatic case on capabilities and opportunities around tourism, trade, investments and cultural engagement.
A high level delegation led by Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, Sri Lankan Ambassador to UAE Malraj De Silva, Sri Lanka Consulate General Dubai Nalinda Wijerathna and Sri Lanka Tourism Chairperson Kimarli Fernando along with 20 local tour operators and over 40 UAE and Gulf-based international tour operators participated at forum, held at the Business Connect Centre, Abu Dhabi Hall on 3 March, which came under international media spotlight.
During the forum, Sri Lanka Tourism Chairperson made a presentation emphasising beyond the traditional offer of pristine seas, sunny beaches to the cultural diversity, places of archaeological interest to nature, wildlife, cuisine and wellness that keeps Sri Lanka among the top eco-tourism destinations in the world.
A cultural show featuring singing sensation Yohani de Silva also made a live performance and launched a destination promotional song specially written and sung by her for Sri Lanka Tourism.
Sri Lankan singers Tehani Imara, Dinugi Herath and Sri Lanka’s long standing brand ambassador Alston Koch making an appearance to sing ‘earth lung’- a song dedicated specially for creating awareness on ‘climate change’.
Adding colour to this evening will be a traditional and fusion dance item as ‘Destination Sri Lanka’ rises in splendour and proves to be unstoppable.
